Terms, licence, privacy & refunds

BIMMER is provided by Orienjo Ltd, registered in England and Wales, and Orienjo Ltd is the data controller for this site — see company details. Anything on this page: admin@bimmer.lighting. Last updated: 26 July 2026.

Terms of service

These terms cover the BIMMER Cloud service at bimmer.lighting — the converter, your account and the hosted product library. The Founding Edition desktop licence is a separate product with its own terms: see the desktop licence below. Buying one does not include the other. BIMMER is sold to businesses; by opening an account you confirm you are doing so for a business and that you may accept these terms on its behalf.

The service

BIMMER converts luminaire geometry (ACIS .sat) and photometry (IES LM-63) into Revit lighting-fixture families (.rfa), using Autodesk's cloud Revit engine, and verifies every delivered file through automated validation gates. Cloud conversions run on BIMMER's own Autodesk account — there is nothing for you to connect or set up.

The gates catch a great deal, but they are checks, not a substitute for your own review: you remain responsible for confirming that a delivered family is correct and suitable for what you use it for.

Your account

Free trial

2 Lite + 2 Pro conversions, free, no card. The allowance is counted per account, per email address, per network and per browser, so a second account — or the same address again after deleting the first — does not restart it. Up to 3 addresses on the same company email domain may each take a trial, which is enough for a team to evaluate BIMMER properly; after that, choose a plan. Trial conversions have no cash value and cannot be transferred, and deliberately working around these limits is a breach of the acceptable-use rules below.

Plans and credits

Every plan includes the converter and the hosted product library — with edit & re-issue, so you can correct identity data or swap the IES and regenerate the next version — and library storage from 500 MB to 8 GB depending on tier (doubled on annual plans).

Credit packs and pay-as-you-go

If you cancel — what happens to your credits

You can cancel at any time, in one click in the billing portal. Your plan runs to the end of the period you have already paid for, and you keep converting until then. When the subscription actually ends:

Put plainly: buying a large credit pack and then cancelling means paying for credits you cannot use until you subscribe again. If you are thinking of cancelling, spend your pack credits first.

Your files and your families

You keep all rights to your files and the families produced from them. We claim no ownership of your geometry, your photometry or the .rfa we deliver, we never share them, and we do not use them to train anything. You grant us only the permission we need to do the job you asked for: to process your files, to have Autodesk's cloud Revit engine convert them, and — when you are signed in — to store the original SAT and IES and the delivered family in your private library until you delete them. You confirm you are entitled to convert the geometry and photometry you upload. How we handle files is set out in the privacy policy.

Acceptable use

Availability and support

We aim to keep BIMMER fast and available, but it is a cloud service that depends on Autodesk Platform Services, and we do not commit to an uptime figure on these plans — an SLA applies only where we have agreed one with you in writing (Enterprise). We may take the service down for maintenance, and will avoid UK working hours where we can.

Support is by email to admin@bimmer.lighting, and a human answers. We aim to reply within one business day, Monday to Friday, UK hours. Founding Edition members are answered first.

No warranty, and the limit of our liability

The service is provided "as is". We do not warrant that every file will convert, that output will meet a particular requirement, or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Terms and warranties not written here are excluded as far as the law allows.

We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of data. Orienjo Ltd's total liability to you, for everything, is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

Suspension and termination

We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, does not pay, or puts the service or other customers at risk. We will tell you why, and where it is fixable we will say what to fix. You may cancel, or delete your account, at any time — cancellation has the credit effects set out above.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes are announced by email to account holders before they take effect, and the "last updated" date at the top of this page changes with them. If you do not accept a material change, cancel before it takes effect.

The earlier Annual and Lifetime plans are retired and can no longer be bought. If you still hold one, it continues on the terms that applied when you bought it.

Governing law

These terms, and any dispute arising from them, are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.

BIMMER Desktop — Founding Edition licence

These terms cover the Founding Edition: the one-time, perpetual Windows licence for BIMMER Desktop. They sit alongside the terms of service above; where the two differ, this section is the one that applies to the desktop app.

What the licence is

Activation, and the five-machine limit

Your Autodesk account, and your files

The desktop edition runs on your own Autodesk account. You create the Autodesk Platform Services app yourself (onboarding walks you through it), and Autodesk bills you directly for anything your conversions consume beyond the free allowance included with your Autodesk account. We do not resell, meter, subsidise or see that usage, and the Autodesk terms you accept are between you and Autodesk.

Your files never reach BIMMER. There is no upload to us, no library, no cache and no account on our side for the desktop edition. Your geometry and photometry do go to Autodesk's Design Automation service — that is where the Revit engine runs — under your own Autodesk account.

What "lifetime updates" means

What you get on top of the software

A Founding Edition purchase includes a 1:1 onboarding session (we set your Autodesk connection up with you, on your own product files) and 12 months of priority support by email, counted from the date of purchase — founding members are answered ahead of the queue, same business day where we can. After 12 months the licence, the updates and your Founding Edition page continue unchanged, and support carries on through the same mailbox on the standard one-business-day aim. Founding members also get a 20% discount on any BIMMER Cloud plan added later, for as long as that plan is held — email us from your registered address to have it applied. Both benefits are claimed from your Founding Edition page, which also records when your support term started.

Refunds

The Founding Edition carries a conditional 14-day money-back guarantee: refundable within 14 days of purchase only while your signed key has not yet been issued. Once you hold a working key the purchase is non-refundable — a signed perpetual key cannot be handed back. A refund revokes the key and frees the company seat. Full wording in the refund policy below.

When a licence can be revoked

We may revoke a key — which stops conversions on machines already activated with it — if:

We will say why, by email to your registered address. Everything you have already produced — the families themselves — stays yours.

What you may not do

The 20-company cap

The Founding Edition is capped at 20 companies, ever. That is a commercial commitment by Orienjo Ltd — we enforce it in our own checkout and we will not sell a 21st — and not a technical limit inside the software. It does not change how your licence works.

Liability and governing law

BIMMER Desktop is provided "as is". Orienjo Ltd's total liability in connection with the Founding Edition is limited to the amount you paid for the licence. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.

Privacy policy

What we store

How long we keep your files

Processors we use

These companies process data on our instructions, under a contract that binds them to the same duties we owe you.

Independent controllers we work with

These two decide for themselves how they use what they hold, under their own privacy policies — they are not acting on our instructions, and we cannot instruct them to delete what they keep for their own legal duties. We list them so the picture is complete.

Sending data outside the UK

One leg of the service leaves the UK and EEA: Autodesk's Design Automation service runs in the United States, so your SAT and IES are transferred there for the minutes a conversion takes. Everything else — your library, the database, our email — stays in the UK or the EEA.

That transfer is covered by the data-protection terms in our agreement with Autodesk and the Article 46 safeguard provided under them — either the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, where the receiving Autodesk entity is certified for it, or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the ICO's UK International Data Transfer Addendum. Which of the two applies depends on Autodesk's current certification, so we would rather confirm it in writing than print a claim here that quietly goes stale: email admin@bimmer.lighting and we will tell you which is in force and send you a copy.

Two smaller points, because a vendor questionnaire will reach them anyway. Stripe, Google and Cloudflare are global companies and process across the UK, the EEA and the United States under their own terms — none of them receives your files. And while your library and database sit in the EU, AWS and Heroku have US parent companies whose staff may access systems for support under those companies' own safeguards. The full picture, sub-processor by sub-processor, is in Annex B of the Data Processing Agreement.

If your files must not leave your own perimeter at all, the desktop Founding Edition is the answer — it converts on your own Autodesk account under your own agreement with Autodesk, and nothing reaches us.

We give account holders notice by email before adding or changing a processor that handles your files — see Security & data.

Email

We send account email only: welcome, email confirmation, password events and purchase confirmations. No marketing without your explicit opt-in.

Your rights

Orienjo Ltd is the data controller for this site and is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office, registration number ZB532168 — you can check the entry on the ICO register of fee payers. We have not appointed a data protection officer; requests are handled by the founder.

Ask admin@bimmer.lighting for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion at any time, and we'll answer within one month, as UK GDPR requires. You don't have to ask us for deletion: Account → Delete account does it yourself, immediately and permanently. If you think we've handled your data badly you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies

BIMMER sets essential cookies only: bimmer_session (keeps you signed in, 30 days) and a short-lived state cookie during Google sign-in. No analytics, no advertising, no cross-site tracking. Because these are strictly necessary, no consent banner gate is required — we tell you anyway.

Security & data

Written for the vendor questionnaire you're about to send us. If it doesn't cover what you need, email admin@bimmer.lighting and ask — a human answers.

Where your files live

Encryption

Library objects are encrypted at rest by S3's server-side encryption (AES-256). Passwords are stored as salted scrypt hashes — we cannot read them, and no reset ever reveals one. Card details never reach us at all; Stripe holds them.

Who can reach your files

Retention and deletion

In short: library files stay until you remove them, cancelling a plan does not delete them, and deleting your account erases them along with everything else we hold. The full rules are in the privacy policy. Deletion is self-service — you don't have to raise a ticket to get your data out or off our systems.

Sub-processors

The current list — who they are, what they hold and where — is in the privacy policy. We will email account holders before adding or replacing any sub-processor that handles customer files, so you have time to raise an objection or cancel. Sub-processors that never see your files (DNS, for example) are listed for completeness rather than because they process anything.

If something goes wrong

If there is a security breach affecting your data we will tell affected account holders by email without undue delay, and in any event within 72 hours of becoming aware of it — what happened, which data was involved, what we have done, what we are still doing, and what you should do — and notify the regulator where the law requires it. We would rather send you an early, incomplete notice than a late, tidy one, so expect a first message that says "we are still working out the scope".

Reporting a vulnerability

Found a hole? Email admin@bimmer.lighting with the detail and how to reproduce it. Report it privately and give us a reasonable chance to fix it, and we will not pursue you for the research. There is no bug bounty.

Data Processing Agreement

Published, not "on request": read it at bimmer.lighting/legal/dpa. It applies automatically to every BIMMER Cloud customer, so there is nothing you need to sign to be covered — but if your procurement process needs a countersigned copy, email admin@bimmer.lighting with your company details and we will send one back signed. We are equally happy to work from your own DPA; what we will not do is sign a document that describes a system we do not run.

What we don't have

Straight answer, because your questionnaire will ask: BIMMER holds no ISO 27001 or SOC 2 certification. Orienjo Ltd is a small UK company and we would rather tell you that than imply otherwise. What we can show you is exactly what is written above: where your files sit, who can reach them, and a delete button that really deletes.
