Creo to Revit: create a lighting family with IES

For a Creo to Revit family workflow, export a simplified neutral solid such as STEP, open it in Inventor, Fusion or another verified intermediary, repair it, then create ACIS SAT 7.0 or 4.0. Pair that SAT with IES in BIMMER for a Revit 2025+ RFA. BIMMER does not directly accept Creo PRT or ASM files.

The BIMMER workflow

  1. In Creo, create a simplified representation that excludes fixings, wires and invisible internal manufacturing parts.
  2. Export the required solid geometry to a neutral format supported by your installed Creo version, commonly STEP.
  3. Open that export in Inventor, Fusion or another tool that can heal the solid and write ACIS SAT 7.0/4.0; check units and bodies.
  4. Use the verified SAT with the matching IES in BIMMER, then review the Revit output against the Creo source dimensions.

Creo to Revit requires a verified intermediary

Creo export capabilities and version options vary by release and installation. We have not established a universal direct Creo-to-ACIS-7 route, so the supported guidance is deliberately conservative. The acceptance boundary is the verified SAT, not a claim about native compatibility.

Keep a repeatable catalogue handoff

Record the Creo simplified representation, neutral-export profile, intermediary version and SAT settings used for each range. This turns a one-off translation into a repeatable product-data process when the housing or optic changes.

Common failures and what to change

The installed Creo release has no suitable old ACIS export option.

Use STEP as a neutral handoff and an intermediary that can explicitly write ACIS 7.0/4.0.

Components move or scale during the intermediary conversion.

Verify assembly coordinates and measure known dimensions before and after each handoff.

The neutral export creates surfaces or fractured solids.

Heal/stitch in the intermediary and do not create SAT until the geometry is solid.
