Revit only reads older ACIS — a modern SAT (SolidWorks' default) won't import at all. In SolidWorks: Tools → Options → Export → ACIS, version 7.0 or 4.0, output Solid, units mm.
Build the part that emits light before any other body, so it sits at the top of the model tree — that is the body BIMMER binds your IES to. Already modelled? In SolidWorks you can simply drag it to the top. Orientation is handled for you.
Ideally, remodel the fixture as a simple, compact version. Or use your product model and delete the small internal parts — screws, springs, wiring — it doesn't need. A heavily detailed model can arrive in Revit with broken geometry.
When exporting, leave "write multi body part into a single ACIS body" unticked, so each part stays its own body. The family then keeps the heatsink, bezel and light individually selectable in Revit — your existing geometry tree, part by part. A merged model still converts — as one single part.
